I'm not able to be out in Colorado, snapping photos of the beautiful Fall colors in the mountains this year, but luckily I still have plenty of photos from last year that I hadn't even edited yet, so it's like getting to relive that journey all over again. It's surely not the same, but still fun, and keeping me busy until the Fall colors finally spring to life here in central MN...
This image I took in the forest just off of a Forest Service road that goes off from the summit of Trout Creek Pass, which lies between the towns of Fairplay and Buena Vista. Some of the "astro" images I have on this site are from that same area and trip. I know to some people that black & white with Fall colors is anathema, but I find it can really be a nice fit with the right photograph, as you can really create a stellar image if you play with the color channels correctly, resulting in something that you just couldn't get in any other season, even though it is black & white.
I'm working on a color version of this image, too, but probably won't post that version on this website. To see that version, stay tuned to the blog on my Living Colorado website, where I'm posting this and a few other images from Fall of last year.
I hope everyone is getting out there and enjoying this most beautiful time of year!
